Harlem STEM Up! will offer 2 types of scholarships

For SHSAT test preparation

For SHSAT test preparation in collaboration with local tutoring/mentoring partners for current Harlem residents who are in 7th grade and will apply for the entrance exam high schools in NYC.

College Scholarships

College Scholarships for underrepresented Harlem residents/applicants attending a specialized high school in NYC who:

  • Have graduated or will graduate from a specialized high school high school in NYC
  • Demonstrate passion for pursuing a STEM-related career (500 word essay)
  • Complete the entire application and submit by January 1, 2024
  • Provide proof of enrollment in a two-year or four-year college during the 2023-2024 school year before funds can be distributed.

Demonstrating financial need is not required, but preference may be given to applicants with financial need. We’ll announce winners in February 2024 on our website.

Scholarship amounts will depend on amounts available through tax-deductible donations to Harlem STEM Up.

Harlem STEM Up! is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is committed to expanding STEM-related educational and career opportunities for mostly Black and Hispanic/Latinx youth in Harlem, NYC. EIN is 86-1994936.
